Black widows are one of the most venomous spiders in Nevada. Black widows can be found all over the United
States but more common in the southern states. Death is uncommon with black widow venom but 15 time
stronger than rattle snake venom and can cause muscle aches, nausea, and can make breathing difficult. Male and
females look different, but females are the most recognizable. Females are typically black with a red hourglass on
their underside. Males are half the size of females and lighter in color with red or pink spots on their back. They are
nocturnal and like to be in secluded areas.
